Love Yourself Challenge #13

So many poems have meanings for me…

I have just spent a lovely 20 minutes sitting on my sofa flicking through some of the poetry books that weigh down the shelves of my bookcase and decided I had to settle on something from Wendy Cope…

It was hard to chose only one, but this poem has always resonated with me, probably because it reminds me of meeting the OH that night on the bridge.

(He buys me all my poetry books… one I bought for myself was “Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis” by Wendy Cope – he didn’t know, so I now have two editions on my shelf!)

  1. Lovely. I can remember the moment I ‘saw’ my other half too. A very happy memory. Lovely poem – that tussle between what your heart wants and what your head says is sensible. Perfect

  2. I’m like Lynn Love above.
I remember very well when I saw him, before he’d even seen me I believe. I didn’t know what love at first sight was… until I experienced it. In my case, it wasn’t a giddy feeling, not a bolt of lightning, but… when I saw him, it was a recognition. An interest that was piqued in a way it had never been before. And after he made love to me, even though he didn’t know that’s what it was… I knew this was something otherworldly.

Beautiful poem. And how nice that he buys you the books 🙂
